Dear Library Members,
Join us on Saturday, December 12, 2008 from 4 to 6 pm for our annual Christmas party - open to library members only. In a festive, holiday setting enjoy:
Christmas crafts
Book reading
A chat with Santa Claus (if you're good)
& Christmas Carols
Baked goods, books and toys will be on sale. Entrance is free. Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult per child please). Please return any overdue books, tapes or dvds on this occasion and we will not charge overdue fees.
The library will be closed for holidays from Thursday, December 24 through Wednesday, January 6, reopening on Sunday, January 10 according to usual library hours (see below). If you would like to check out books, tapes or dvds over the holidays, please contac Rachel Pugh at 055-454556 or 347 795 9134 to make an appointment.

An important change regarding the Sunday School Outreach Luncheon for Malawi on Sunday December 13th

A message from Haswell Beni:
I'm so grateful to the Lord for the heart you have for the children in Malawi and what we are doing there.
As I told Caterina a few weeks ago, to send anything to Malawi is very expensive. Not only the shipping
but also the custom duty declaration that the people receiving the packages need to pay ( usually they
don't have the money to do so).
So, I would advise to ...send the proceeds from the luncheon to the school to buy the much needed stationery and toys locally.
It is possible for me to bring some school supplies to Malawi or to ask all people coming to a project in Malawi to bring them. This would be a good solution for those supplies already bought by now.
But, right now if it is not too late, I ask people not to buy any more school supplies because the best thing is to make a money donation instead.

On Sunday December 13th, there will be a Sunday School Benefit Luncheon following the 11am service.
All proceeds will be used for the Sunday School Advent Outreach to Malawi which Caterina is coordinating with Haswell and Maria Beni (members of our congregation).
Caterina has arranged for older children (11 +) to cook and serve this luncheon, with the help of their parents.
If any young people would like to help, please let us know.
Also, it would be good to know exactly how many people they should prepare for, so we ask that you book soon.
Immediately after lunch, the Sunday School children will perform a brief choral concert of Christmas music.
Help us help others this Christmas.

Help out those in need in Florence
As we do every year, the Food Bank will be giving out new and nearly new children's toys in good condition, and warm hats, scarves and gloves for men and women on Dec. 24th, our last Food Bank before Christmas. We would appreciate any donations of the above mentioned items. If you would like to wrap your gifts please note on
the outside of the package if it is a toy for a boy or girl and what age. Gifts can be left in the office or brought to Church on Sunday.

Paul Lorenz to exhibit at St. James
The seventh edition of the Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte Contemporanea of Florence will be held from 5th to 13th December 2009 in the historical setting of Fortezza da Basso.
Once again, St. James will be honored to be one of the featured venues for the Florence Biennale. Artist Paul Lorenz will display his works in sculpture and copper at St. James. Stop by to see his work beofre heading over to the Fortezza da Basso to see the rest of the exhibit.
