The Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) seeks qualified applicants for the following positions in South Africa:   

 

Operations Manager
Undergraduate Study Abroad Programme
Savanna/Fynbos Ecology, Kruger National Park  

OTS seeks a qualified individual to  run  the  logistics  of  the  field-based undergraduate  programmes  in  Savanna/Fynbos  Ecology  and  Global  Health, run  in  partnership  with  the  Universities  of  Cape  Town  (UCT)  and Witwatersrand  (WITS)  and  South  African  National  Parks.  The  programmes, operating  across  South  Africa,  accepts  students  from  both  South  Africa and the  USA.  We  are  seeking  to  fill  the  post,  based  in  the  Kruger  National  Park,  in  September  2014.  It  is  a  five-year  grant-funded  contract  with probation,  and  the  contract  is  renewable,  based  on  performance.  The successful  applicants  will  work  closely  with  academic  staff  and  the Programme  Director  in  management  of  logistics  of  the  programmes,  the design  and  implementation  of  rigorous  programmes  of  field  research, ecology,  conservation,  policy,  and  history  and  culture  of  the  host  country (South  Africa). A  portion  of  the  time  will  be  spent  on  team  teaching  and the  supervision  of  research  projects  undertaken  by  students.

Resident Lecturer (2 positions open)
Undergraduate Study Abroad Programme

The  Organization  for  Tropical  Studies  seeks  applicants  for  two Resident Lecturer positions in its  Savanna/Fynbos  Ecology Undergraduate  programme, run  in  partnership  with  the  Universities  of  Cape  Town  (UCT)  and Witwatersrand  (WITS)  and  South  African  National  Parks.  The  programme, based  in  West  Coast  National  Park,  western  Cape  Province  and  Skukuza, Kruger  National  Park,  accepts  students  from  both  South  Africa  and  the USA.  We  are  seeking  to  fill  the  one  post  in  September  2014  and  the second  in  November  2014.  Both  are  five-year,  grant-funded  contracts with probation,  and  contracts  are  renewable,  based  on  performance.  The successful  applicants  will  work  closely  with  other  staff  and  the  Programme Director  in  the  design  and  implementation  of  rigorous  programmes  of field research,  ecology,  conservation,  policy,  and  history  and  culture  of  the  host country  (South  Africa).  They  would  also  be  responsible  for  team  teaching and  the  supervision  of  independent  research  projects  undertaken  by students.
