Recipe Of The Month
Honey Onion Syrup for
cough and sore throat
At first I thought this recipe sounded weird, but it turned out to be easy, inexpensive, effective and safe. There is no oniony strong taste if you use good onions and honey...and a bit of lemon juice.
Ingredients
 - 2 medium organic onions
- organic honey (the darker the better, we use Aseda Wild Honey*)
- Organic lemon
Instructions - Peel the onions and slice into thin rings.
- Add enough organic honey to cover the onions.
- Cover and allow the sweetened onion to remain in the bowl on your counter for about 12-15 hours or overnight.
- The next day, there will be about a cup or more of sweet syrup in the bowl.
- Keep refrigerated. Can last up to a month.
This cough syrup contains a range of vitamins, nutrients and minerals - and the combination of the onion and the honey help fight infection, soothe sore throats and quiet a cough. A spoonful once every hour is not too much.
Note: Consult a physician anytime you give honey to an infant
