MSP Museum will Debut in April

Museum display After more than a year of planning and designing, we are excited to announce the Missouri State Penitentiary Museum will open in April. The space which houses the museum, located on the second floor of the CVB offices in downtown Jefferson City at 100 E. High St., has been completely transformed. Visitors will be treated to life sized images from the historical site and can read all about the history of the prison. A cell with accompanying bars, bed, sink and toilet has been constructed to portray prison life, and our display cases are filled with memorabilia thanks to the many residents who generously supplied us with applicable artifacts.

The Missouri State Penitentiary Museum will be open on Tuesday - Friday from 10am -12pm and 1pm - 3pm and on Saturday from 10am - 2pm. Groups of 10 or more are welcome to make an appointment. Admission is currently included with the purchase of a 2013 tour ticket at the Missouri State Penitentiary. Admission is $3 for walk-in visitors who have not purchased a tour ticket. For questions about the Missouri State Penitentiary Museum, please contact the Jefferson City Convention & Visitors Bureau at (573) 632-2820.
