Missouri - The Cave State -- November 2
Time: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Location: Missouri State Museum, Missouri Capitol
Description: With over 6,300 known caves, Missouri lives up to its nickname "The Cave State." Missouri is home to a wide variety of natural landscapes, and caves can often be overlooked by people exploring on the land's surface. On November 2 from 6:00-9:00 pm, the Missouri State Museum invites you to "enter" Missouri caves. For one evening only, part of the Museum's Resources hall will be transformed into an underground grotto. Come explore and learn about different cave features and life within a cave. Find out how caves have been used through time by Missouri's people, from American Indians to outlaws. There will be other cave related hands-on activities and information as well for this special program. Evening entry to the museum will be through the carriage entrance on the south side of the building underneath the grand staircase.

State Cross Country Championships -- November 3
Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Oak Hills Golf Center, 932 Ellis Blvd.
Description: The Missouri State Cross Country Championships will bring hoards of runners, coaches and fans to Jefferson City on Saturday, November 3. The girls' championship has taken place in Jefferson City since its inception in 1979, while the boys' championship moved here in 1976 and has been here ever since. Representatives from 200 boys and 200 girls high school cross country teams across the state travel to compete in this event.

Museum After Hours -- November 7
Time: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Location: Missouri State Museum, Missouri State Capitol
Description: In November, the Missouri State Museum will continue to have "Museum after Hours" on the first Wednesday of each month, when museum galleries will stay open until 9pm. At 7pm, Betty Winfield, Ph.D., will present a program called "1844 Presidential Campaign, Prelude to Secession." The 1844 presidential campaign, as indicated by banners, songs, flyers and political newspapers, was a prelude to Missouri's controversial entry into the Civil War. This program will take place in the Capitol rotunda on the first floor of the Missouri State Capitol. Contact Information: (573) 751-2854

Scene One Theatre presents "RED" -- November 8-10, 15-17
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Location: Scene One Theatre, 121 E. High St.
Description: Master abstract impressionist Mark Rothko has landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art. But when his assistant Ken gains the confidence to challenge him, Rothko faces the possibility his crowning achievement could be his undoing. The 2010 Tony winner for Best Play, RED is a searing portrait of an artist's ambition and vulnerability.

Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting -- November 29
Time: 6 p.m. Location: Rotary Park on Bolivar Street
Description:Join the Mayor in kicking off the holiday season with the 4th annual Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting. There will be entertainment, refreshments, and a visit from Santa Claus at the event.

Living Windows -- November 30
Time: 6-9 p.m.
Location: Downtown Jefferson City
Description: A Jefferson City tradition for almost 20 years, Living Windows takes place downtown. Storefronts and windows come alive with dancers, singers, religious and holiday themes. Hayrides wind their way through the streets and Santa Claus makes his yearly visit to Hawthorn Bank. This year over 50 groups are participating in the event that will fill High Street from Jefferson Street to Adams Street for more than three blocks of entertainment. Enjoy refreshments, listen to carolers from the Central United Church of Christ choir and watch performances by Jefferson City Dance Academy at the Cole County Historical Society Museum Holiday Open House (109 Madison St).

Candlelight Tours -- November 30 & December 1
Time: 6:30-9 p.m. Friday, November 30th and 2-4 p.m. Saturday, December 1st
Location: Governor's Mansion
Description: Each Holiday Season the Governor's Mansion is beautifully decorated and during this annual special the Governor and his wife personally great all of those who come to tour the Mansion. Many enjoy visiting during the holiday season, especially to see the Governor's Mansion in its nighttime elegance
