Dear St. Francis Xavier Families,
Who do you turn to for help? This week the school came together to say the Rosary. It is a tradition for us to do so during the month of October in dedication to Mary. I'm always surprised as I look out over the kids at how fervently they are praying with rosaries in hand. We have terrific student leaders who guide the prayers, some musical interludes, and there are slides that accompany the movements.
Still, what keeps the students so immersed in reverence, so at peace, so sincere in a rote prayer? No one's messing around, no one's falling asleep. Praying the Rosary allows us to bring all our needs to prayer. We enter into a calm so different from the busyness of our lives. We allow ourselves to place all our needs before God. It is a time of deep vulnerability and trust that God knows our heart and holds us close, much the way a loving mother would hold her child with tenderness and strength.
If you don't regularly take to prayer your needs and what troubles you, I encourage you to try. Sometimes we drop off our to-do list at God's feet in a quick, last minute plea, and that's okay. Staying with the prayer a little longer and just being in God's presence, can allow a lot more to take place. Especially if you're staying open and not analyzing or looking for solutions, but just giving over what's in your heart. God's grace is always being offered to us, but we have to take the time to receive it.
Take the time; it's worth it.
Blessings,
Ms. Kim Cavnar, Principal
