Easter Blessings!

How do any of us get to Easter without going through the Passion? Many of our families have been walking this Lenten journey in different ways and for a very long time throughout this year. Please pray for those in our SFX Community who are struggling with serious illnesses, loss and unexpected tragedies.

Our prayer list of special intentions for morning Pledge & Prayer is getting longer. The kids often bring their loved ones' names forward, and the whole student body is patient in devoting their prayers each morning. Each day during Lent we also prayed the Examen as a whole school, and everyone took a deep breath to just be with God. This is a very important part of our Jesuit tradition as well.

If you were lucky enough to be present for the 4th Grade's Stations of the Cross or for our school Prayer of Adoration, you sensed a deep and loving awareness in how our kids meet Christ. Their Lenten Sacrifices also spoke volumes. Thank you for guiding your students in their faith and partnering with SFX in our same efforts.

First Reconciliation just took place, along with family retreats in 2nd, 3rd & 8th grades. First Communion & Confirmation are now just a few weeks away. All you pass on in treasuring a lived love of God is very apparent. I have often been reminded that most of what we do can happen in other schools, except faith formation and cultivating a personal relationship with God. I suspect that's true, since nearly every exceptional experience follows from that.

May you have an egg-ceptional Easter,
Ms. Kim Cavnar, Principal

8th Grade Retreat at the CASA

On Tuesday March 31st the eighth grade class spent a wonderful prayerful day on retreat at the CASA to deepen their relationship with God as they transition from grade school to high school. Parents joined us for a special Mass that included powerful reflections on faith by eighth grader Aranzazu Soto and a parent-child blessing. After Mass the 7th grade parents hosted a reception for us by the pool. Special thanks to Ritta Faigan, Lori Roediger, Patti Donahue, and the seventh grade parents for providing hospitality. Thank you so much to SFX Alums Mark Frakes '11, Charlie Kamps '11, Jessika Zanotti '12, and Hailey Shramm '12 for being part of the retreat team.
