 Winter high bill alert
What a winter we have had! It's been a cold front, after cold front, after cold front. As a result, your home's heating system has taken a beating working extra hard to keep your family warm, which leads to more energy consumption. Thankfully we had a few warmer than usual days throughout the month of February, which helped balance out the energy consumption.
You may find this interesting, but according to our data, January 2014 was 28% colder than normal January temperatures, making it the second coldest January in the last 30+ years! I think it's safe to say that most everyone is ready for the warmer weather to get here.
As you review your monthly bill, please be aware of your service dates and the increase in consumption used during this time. You will find that a couple of these cold spells have fallen within this last statement, causing this increase.
If, after looking over your bill, you have concerns, we have several resources that may help you. It's also a good idea to keep your thermostat set to 68 degrees in order to keep your bill manageable.
Find ways to reduce your energy usage during the winter months.
Level out your monthly electric costs over a 12-month period. Must meet eligibility requirements.
Determine how much energy you are using.
Speak with one of our qualified Residential Energy Services Representatives to see if you qualify for a free home energy audit.
