Beware! Fraud Alert
Stop sign_man holding
Members, be on alert! A new telephone scam is circulating among several utility companies, GreyStone included. A GreyStone member recently received a phone call from a person who said that their meter needed to be changed out and that they needed to immediately make a payment for the meter. This is not a GreyStone practice.

The alert follows a recent report of someone calling a cooperative member claiming to represent Tri-County EMC, a co-op in Gray, GA. The scammer stated that Tri-County EMC had recently lost members' checks, and then threatened to discount the member's power if they did not immediately make a payment over the phone via credit card.

Georgia Power also recently cautioned its customers about suspected billing scams, usually involving callers who demand a credit card or debit number over the phone.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to represent GreyStone Power who tries to force you to make a payment over the phone, please be aware that this may be a scam. GreyStone members always have the option to make a payment online through our web self-service system. If you are ever suspicious of a caller, hang up the phone and call GreyStone directly before giving out any sensitive information.

If you do receive a suspicious phone call, please report it to your local law enforcement.

iMap_new front 2013
Back by popular demand, we are once again offering a free premium life-saving smart phone weather app to GreyStone members just in time for storm season!

How many times have you been awakened by the sounds of thunder and rain during the night, or even worse, slept through the storm only to find the storm is much worse than you thought and you should have taken cover? With the newly updated Touchstone Energy Weather Connection App, a product of iMap*, one of the top-rated weather radio apps from iTunes, you no longer need to wonder. *If you currently have the iMap app, there is no need for you to change apps. You are connected to the same information.

Weather Connection supports local media by providing communication of weather watches, warnings and advisories in your area. With this free premium package, your phone will wake up automatically with an alert, beep, then audibly announce the alert type. In addition, you can receive audible alerts for up to five different custom locations to ensure the safety of family, friends and assets. The text and audio text-to-speech reading of the watches and warnings for drivers and the visually impaired add to its features.

The Weather Connection app is free on iTunes and Google Play, however, to unlock the premium iMap package (valued at $9.99) which features the audible alerts, watches and warning map layers and social media streams, you will need to download the app and request your GreyStone "co-op code" to access these features.

No smartphone? No problem! Visit and check out the full-featured live radar system to track weather, detailed forecasts and lightning strikes, and watch storm chasers. You can even see the severe weather outlook in your area or anywhere in the U.S. For more information or to request your free code, please contact us at or call 770-370-2273.

Your voice counts
As a member-owner of GreyStone Power, you have a voice in what goes on around you. There's a great deal of government discussion about environmental protection and how our energy plants will be affected. GreyStone is committed to reducing all harmful atmospheric pollutants and has spent millions to do so. This comes with a cost that members will have to incur in their energy bill. Do you know the latest? Are you keeping up with all of the possible changes and how they will affect your family?

You can help make a difference for your future and your children's future by learning more. Let your voice be heard. Get equipped and share your concerns with your elected officials.

Celebrate Grandparent's Day
"The old are the precious gem in the center of the household," states the old Chinese proverb. Such truth can be found in this statement as many of us think back to our own grandparents. The love and the wisdom that they share with us is nothing short of invaluable.

As our parents and grandparents grow in years, it will be up to us to help them. One of the best ways we can do that is to help them save money! If your parents or grandparents are GreyStone Power members, they are eligible to receive GreyStone's Co-op Connections Card (CCC)! This one little card could help them save hundreds on their prescriptions, in addition to discounts on dental, vision, hearing, chiropractic, lab and imaging services.

Also, once they get their card, you can help them save on their favorite grocery items by using or with their upcoming Christmas shopping through, where they can earn CashBack as they shop!
