Building Community - Transforming Lives
ISSUE: # 73
 OCTOBER 2014
FROM THE DIRECTOR, CARRIE TURNER
Greetings from Lancaster where library staff from around the state are attending the Pennsylvania Library Association annual conference.  Several of our CTLS librarians are here presenting projects that they have worked on for our state professional association. They are awesome!

Speaking of awesome, we have a wonderful selection of classes and events scheduled in October.  They will fill up quickly, so register today.

We will be taking our show on the road this month at the Cheltenham Township Harvest Festival.  Besides being a great family event, it gives the community an opportunity to find out what's new at the library.  I hope you will stop by and say "hi".  We will also make a stop at Cheltenham High School to celebrate Teen Read Week with the help of our partners at the school district.  Here is a link to the Teens' Top Ten nominees reading list.

We have also partnered with the Township's Older Adult Subcommittee to offer a series of free film screenings.  The first movie is Bells Are Ringing (1960, Warner Bros.) starring Dean Martin and Judy Holliday.   This event is an opportunity to meet other members of our community and enjoy a vintage film and light refreshments.  Details are listed below.

Finally, if you love reading horror, countdown to Halloween with this booklist suggested by Becky Spratford, the librarian who is the expert on this genre.  Use NoveList or ask a librarian for additional choices.  While you are doing that, I will be reading something a little gentler and calmer.  To each his own.

See you at the library (and on Facebook)!
