ISSUE: # 69
 JUNE 2014
FROM THE DIRECTOR, CARRIE TURNER
Save money by using your library card when you travel this summer.  Our digital collections make it easy to take reading and listening titles with you without adding extra weight to your luggage.  You can download from any location that has an Internet connection.  You can also renew physical items that way or email us if you need assistance.  We are only a little jealous when we hear from residents on vacation in Paris.  Share a picture of yourself reading in front of the Eiffel Tower and we just might post it on Facebook!

FYI - we check the holds list on Overdrive at least once a week.  If the waiting list is long, we add additional copies to our Advantage account which is restricted to Cheltenham residents.  Be sure to log in before you search in order to 'see' the Cheltenham Advantage titles displayed.  We have also tried to add as many titles from the School District's summer reading lists as possible.

Summer Reading Club is not just for kids anymore although it is a wonderful way to fight the summer slide.  We have a great line-up of programs and activities for all ages.  Check out our events calendar this summer.

Our consortium, MCLINC,  will be upgrading the network at all member libraries this summer.  This will result in better and faster connectivity for library staff, library computers and public wifi.  We can't wait.

CTLS is governed by a seven member Board of Directors appointed by the Township Commissioners.  This summer the Board will be interviewing candidates for a recent at-large vacancy.  If you would like to know more about this volunteer position and the responsibilities it entails, check our website or email me for an information packet and application.

Many thanks to the Friends of the Library for funding special projects and programs that fall outside our operating budget.  The latest improvement is a display screen at the Glenside branch that highlights upcoming programs.  The Friends also make most of our summer activities possible.

Finally, please consider donating to the library via our annual fundraising letter or PayPal.   We are also accepting costume jewelry donations for a fall Bling for Books sale.  Thank you for your generosity!

See you at the library (and on Facebook)!
