Building Community - Transforming Lives
ISSUE: # 66
 MARCH 2014
FROM THE DIRECTOR, CARRIE TURNER
As usual, the staff has worked long and  hard to bring our community a stellar month of programming.  Some of the highlights include another fabulous Read Across America party, our second annual Big Truck Day and a Practice SAT Test.  We also have a play, author events, a visit with Annie Oakley and much more.  All we need now is good weather!

Sure signs that spring will eventually arrive:
1.  The Philadelphia Flower Show starts this weekend,
2.  Daylight Saving Time begins on March 9,
3.  The East Cheltenham Friends are selling pansies this month
4.  April 15th is just around the corner.  If you need tax forms, we have a supply available at each branch.  If we don't have what you need, we can help you find it online.

Finally, we are in the middle of preparing our annual report and audit so we are adding things up.  Last year there were over 300,000 visits to the library and you borrowed 443,286 items.  That's about 12 items per capita! We transported over 150,000 items between our libraries and other MCLINC libraries.   Use of digital collections increased slightly but it is still only a small percentage of our total activity.  Overall, 16,000 residents attended 868 programs in 2013.  It was a very good year.  Thanks for your support.

Stay warm and see you at the library!

Carrie Turner

Director
