Special Offering to New City Parish
thank you
Our Congregation collected $276.22 from the October (5th Sunday of the month) offering. In addition, the Mission Outreach Fund of the Foundation matched that dollar amount plus $100, bringing the total sent to New City Parish to $652.44. Thank you for your generosity!

Time for Advent Devotions
  "From Heaven Above"

In this time surrounding the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the beloved hymn by Martin Luther "From Heaven Above to Earth I Come" provides the theme for our daily devotions for Advent. Each day Pastor Michael Hoy "unwraps" a different gift that comes "from heaven above" through the birth of Christ. Daily readings begin Sunday, November 27, and center on weekly themes of hope, love, peace and life. These are the divine gifts that were delivered to us in the holy Child Jesus, wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.

Booklets are available in the narthex or from the church office. They are also available for Kindle and Nook for 99 cents.
Thanksgiving Service

Wednesday, November 23, 11:30 a.m.

This year we celebrate Thanksgiving together with preschoolers and their families. This thirty minute service will be a special way to bring our thanks to God. There will be traditional hymns, songs from the preschoolers, psalms and prayers. This is a great way to remember the reason for Thanksgiving, as well as to meet and greet some of our preschoolers and their families.
Together We Give and Serve

"Thank you" to everyone in the congregation for their responses to our Stewardship program, "Together We Give and Serve."  Please return any outstanding commitment cards to the office or in the offering on Sunday morning.
In Loving Memory of Ursula Steil

A service in memory of Ursula Steil will be held next Tuesday, November 22, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Burial will follow at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Cemetery in Westlake Village. A reception will follow at the Steil home. Ursula passed away this morning peacefully at home. Please remember the family in your prayers.

Stephen Ministry Training Class

Please continue to pray for our Stephen Ministers as they learn key skills in order to become better caregivers.

Using Mental Health Professionals and Other Community Resources.
What happens when a care receiver needs a different kind of care or a higher level of care than a Stephen Minister is qualified to provide? The Stephen Minister works with our Stephen Leaders to connect the person with a professional caregiver who is able to meet the person's needs. In this
week's session, our Stephen Ministers take a look at what other types of caregiving are available and at the limits to their caregiving. This will prepare our Stephen Ministers to refer care receivers to the appropriate caregiver should the need arise.
