Prayer Quilts
This past Sunday the members of the congregation joined together to pray over the squares and to tie knots in them.
Each knot in the quilt represents a prayer said for that individual or family. The quilt is then given to the individual to be with them during treatments or difficult times to remind them that many prayers are being said on their behalf.
What makes each quilt so special is not the pattern, color or workmanship, but the fact that prayer is symbolically tied into each on. These comforters are a statement of faith, and a testimony to our belief in God and in the power of prayer.
Prayers and Squares is a nationwide interfaith organization that promotes prayer through the use of quilts. You can read more about their outreach through this link.
Would you like to learn more about how you can help with or support this ministry? Here's what you can do:
--Be ready and willing to say a prayer and tie a knot. --Donate 100% cotton fabric, Joann's or Amazon gift cards, or money to buy fabric, batting and ties.
If you would like to get involved or request a prayer quilt, please contact Bonnie Boord.
Prayer Quilt Request forms are available to download here and our website. You can also pick up a copy in the office or narthex.

Coffee Hour Stewardship

Please join us for Coffee Hour before the Worship Service with ELCA Global Mission Interpreter Pastor Dan Beirne. A co-worker in this important ministry will be joining him.
This is an opportunity to provide hospitality to our guests and get to know some of our partners in the ministry we do "TOGETHER" as part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. This is the first of three Sundays we will observe this fall, each emphasizing a different part of our 2017 Stewardship theme-- "Together We Give and Serve."

Together We Give and Serve
Each week we will be projecting a Bible verse while the offering is being received. The verse from the preceding Sunday will be presented here each week.
Last Sunday's Verse for Reflection
Paul writes: On the first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned. Don't wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once. 1 Corinthians 16:2

Stephen Ministry Training class
Stephen Leaders are pastors, church staff, and lay leaders who share a common passion-bringing Christ's love and care to hurting people. Here is an update on what our Stephen Ministers are learning this week. Please lift them up in your prayers as they nurture their gifts and expand their knowledge to bring care to hurting people in Christ's name.
Feelings: Your, Mine, and Ours
Feelings are a gift from God. In this session our Stephen Minister trainees learn to help people recognize, accept, and express their feelings, and invite them to trust God to bring them healing and wholeness. They will explore the benefits of expressing feelings and the harm that can come when feelings remain unexpressed.
