Read-a-thon

Our Read-a-thon is in full swing! Please turn in your signed contract by Wednesday, January 13.  The book cart will be out this week, so be sure to bring a book to swap.

Our Book Fair starts Wednesday, January 13 after school.  SOV has its own Book Fair website, where you can preview books, volunteer to help at the fair, see the calendar of events and shop online. We encourage everyone to send this link to their family and friends that aren't able to make it to the book fair on campus. Every book purchased helps raise money for our school.

Reminders:
  • Please bring in books for the book swap starting Tuesday, January 12.
  • Read-a-thon contracts are due back Wednesday, January  13. We need 100% student participation in order to have the pancake breakfast.
  • Reading Under the Stars/PTF General meeting is this Thursday, January 14, at 7 pm.
Volunteers:
  • We need volunteers to help work the book fair before and after school. Please contact Katie Riordan for the days/times that you're available to help. Each shift is about 30 minutes and count towards fundraising hours.
  • Volunteers are also needed to count reading log minutes (can be done at home) and readers are needed to read for Reading Under the Stars.
Please contact Katie Riordan if you would like to help.

5th & 6 th Grade Reading Sleepover

The 5th and 6th grade classes, along with Mrs. Farrell and Ms. Henderson, spent the night in the Shay Center last Friday night. They read for a total of 1,800 minutes! What a great way to start the Read-a-thon!

"Havana Nights" Silent Auction & Gala

On Saturday, March 5, 2016, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran School will hold its annual Silent Auction. This event is our most important event of the year, as it not only provides a terrific social event for our families, but also provides significant funding to special projects.

Families are requested to solicit donations from businesses they patronize. All donations need to be accompanied by the donation form. Donations are due no later than Friday, February 19, 2016, or they will not be able to be used in the event.

Attached are the Request Letter and Donation Form for our Annual Silent Auction. Please take the letter to your favorite restaurant, play place, store, salon, massage person, etc. and request a donation to be used at our event. We are a 501(c)(3), and donations are tax deductible. The more variety of items we have, the better the event will be.

Thanks in advance for your help!
