Back-to-School Night (TK - 6th)

Thursday, September 17 at 7:00 p.m. This event is for parents and guardians (no childcare provided).

School Picture Day 
Tuesday, September 22. Students may wear their uniforms or their Sunday best. Order forms were sent home today. Please be sure to turn them into your child's classroom. 

Minimum Day and Fellowship

Thursday, September 24. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Fellowship play date at Mae Boyer Park to follow. 
 
Parents Fellowship and General Meeting
 
Saturday, September 26 at 6:30 p.m. This is a fellowship event and general meeting for parents only. Please RSVP to the Evite by September 20.   

Volunteers Needed!

We have several volunteer positions open to help our school. Not only would you be helping our students and staff, you'll gain those valuable volunteer hours.

Picture Day Volunteers  - We need a couple of volunteers to help with picture day from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 22. You would be letting grades know when it's their turn and making sure the kids look neat and tidy. Please contact the PTF if you are interested in helping. 

Scrip Volunteers - We need volunteers to sell Scrip one day a week. This can be done in the mornings
(8:15 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.) or after school (2:45 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.) for a total of 1 hour per week.

If you can help in anyway, please let our office know. Thanks!

Building Bridges

On the first day of school, the 5th and 6th graders continued the tradition of "Building Bridges." With a few sheets of paper and some masking tape, the students were challenged to build a bridge. The winning bridge was made by John Ohannesian and Tyler Lee. It held a record-setting 46 encyclopedias!!

The fireman at stations 105 and 106 send their thanks for the amazing cards that the SOV students made and signed in honor of our appreciation for all that they do for our community. They received the cards and enjoyed yummy treats. Thank you!

Spirit T-Shirt Contest Winner is...
Congratulations to Tyler Lee for winning this years Spirit T-Shirt contest! You will receive order forms in your child's folder in the coming weeks. 
Preschool News

Preschool will be hosting a Children's Rummage sale on Saturday, October 10 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Drop-off days in Founders Hall:
Thursday, October 8 from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Friday, October 9 from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

This is a great opportunity to clean out your closets and garage. Recycle items your child has outgrown or simply no longer uses while benefiting Shepherd. This event will be free and open to the public! Please consider donating a variety of children's items such as furniture and accessories, outdoor/sports equipment, toys, games, electronics, maternity and children's clothing and shoes (*no car seats/boosters, cribs, strollers, or helmets). If you have any questions, please contact our Preschool director, Mrs. Nereyda Levings at 818-347-6784.

Welcome Blossom and Sunshine students and parents! We are looking forward to an awesome year of growth, learning, nurturing and fellowship. Preschool is represented on the School Board by our wonderful director, Nereyda Levings.
 
Save the Date - Pastor Bryan's 30th anniversary
Save the Date
We will be celebrating Pastor Bryan's 30th anniversary of his ordination Sunday, October 18. A celebration brunch will follow the worship service. Hope to see you there! 
Cherub Choir

Rehearsals are from 2:45 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. Tuesdays, starting on September 22. This year, Cherub choir is open to students in grades TK-6. The fee is $50 per child for the entire year. The flyer went home in your child's folder today. Please return the form no later than Friday, September 22.
Animal Encounters Enrichment After School
Let's Enrich Our Kids After School!
SOV's Animal Encounters After School Enrichment sign up sheet went home last week. Animal Encounters begins Monday, September 28 and meets for eight weeks every Monday from 3-4 pm at SOV.
The deadline is this Friday, September 18. Sign up now, space is limited!
