Volunteers Needed!

Would you like an easy way to serve at church? Please consider being an acolyte, usher, or greeter. The Deacon's Committee is looking for volunteers for these positions. Even if you can only do it once in awhile, it will really help! This is a great way to serve without much extra time required beyond your regular attendance, and it's fun too!

If you are interested let us know here:

Also, there will be a chance to learn more at a very brief meeting Sunday, August 9, after worship. Please stay for a few minutes and explore. Thank you!

PS: Youth and all ages are welcome and encouraged to sign up!

SOV Book Club

Stephen Ministries Continuing Ed

Stephen Ministries Continuing Ed

Some of the discussion points will be on:

Understanding Ourselves - What it is like for the non-drinker to live with an alcoholic/or in sobriety.

Do you live on a Merry Go Round of Denial? - The pattern we who live with the alcoholic experience.

There Is Hope--the only one you can change is yourself.

How to be happy whether or not the alcoholic is drinking or not.

There will be free booklets for anyone interested.

Save the Date - Dinner and a Movie

Mark your calendars!

Join us for our next Dinner and a Movie on Saturday August 22. For the adults, we will be screening "Leaving Limbo", an award-winning Christian film produced by SOV's own Lisa Lambert! T
he story centers on Monica Wyatt, a "totally '80s" teenager on the brink of a bright future when her dreams are destroyed by a car wreck that leaves her in a coma for 19 years. After miraculously awakening at age 38, Monica finds her once-perfect life in shambles and an unrecognizable world around her. As she struggles to fit into a world of Starbucks and cell phones, she attempts to win back the love of her life. In the process, she experiences a true wake-up call.

We will have craft, games and a short film for the younger children.

Do Stephen Ministers care for people outside a Congregation?

Yes. Stephen Ministers often provide care for people in the broader community-relatives, friends, and coworkers of congregation members; non-members whom the congregation serves; as well as military personnel and their families. This is a powerful way that Stephen Ministry can enhance and expand a congregation's outreach.

SOV's Conejo Valley Bible Study will be discussing the book "Miracles" by Eric Metaxas over the summer. We meet Fridays at 9:30 a.m. in the Thousand Oaks area. Please contact Lisa Lambert for details 818.889.8402.
