Lutheran Social Services Food Pantry

Lutheran Social Services food pantry needs donations. If you are interested in donating food, please bring it to church and place in the narthex this Sunday or you can deliver it to LSS at 21430 Strathern, Canoga Park.  We will also accept donations via cash or check to Lutheran Social Services.

Needed are non-perishable foods, such as:
soup, canned beans, canned vegetables, cereal, pasta, pasta sauce, tuna

 



The last regularly scheduled Wednesday night youth activities are this week and next. Tonight we conclude our regular sessions for hang time, senior high youth and confirmation. (Confirmation will be having a catechism contest. Be there to find out what that means!) Next week is the year-end party, including BBQ dinner, games, and lots of fun (6-8:30 p.m. on May 6). Watch here on eWeek for announcements about special events over the summer.

The Rummage sale is May 9! Spread the news to family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.

 

We need lots of donations from your house, your garage, the closets, storage areas and even under your bed. You may be surprised by what you find and don't need!

 

Drop off your items Wednesday, May 6 - Friday, May 8 from 8:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m.

 

We need volunteers! Helpers are needed to sort, price, set up, sell, cashier and clean up. Please contact Pamela Merry if you can help.

Book Club


Please join us on Sunday, May 17, at 10:45 a.m. in the Vaswig Library to discuss the novel CELL by Robin Cook. We welcome new members!

 

Foundation Legacy Dinner

The Foundation Legacy Dinner will be held at Shepherd of the Valley on Sunday, May 17 at 6:00 p.m.

This event is held to thank those who have designated a contribution through the Church, School or Foundation through their estate plan. Such gifts would endow the work of SOV in the future. If you have made such arrangements, and would like to attend this event please contact Jan Garris at 818.348.8343.

 

Male Chorus Concert
                   

The San Fernando Valley Male Chorus Concert will perform at SOV on Saturday, May 30, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be $18 and will be available from Ralph Mauriello - all proceeds go to SOV.

VBS Volunteers are needed to support kids in this learning adventure. Please prayerfully consider the gifts God has given you to use to help make this week a successful learning experience. We need station leaders to lead children in song and play; Bible learning,  games, sports, kitchen, and drama. Also needed are volunteers to help guide the children to each station. Both youth and adults are called to meet the "Everest Challenge" by volunteering. If interested please contact Marlene Filsinger or Caryl Benner.
