Making in a Difference in Our Community
The church council thanks you for your ongoing support of our church and its ministry. Did you know that SOV contributes ten percent of all tithes to our synod to support synod and ELCA programs? This includes support for seminaries, colleges, missions at home and abroad, advocacy, and other important ministries of the church.
In addition to this, our church sends another three percent of your general offerings to these ministries:
- New City Parish, an inner-city South LA church consortium
- Lutheran Social Services, which serves people and families in need (job skills, homeless, food banks, etc.)
- Lutheran Retreats, Camps and Conferences (LRCC) for their camping ministries
- University of Southern California (USC) and California Lutheran University (CLU) for their youth ministry programs

Vacation Bible School
Preschool Through Sixth Grade
July 14-18
Vacation Bible School is just a few weeks away. Please sign up and spread the word! Volunteers are needed. Contact Caryl Benner if you can lend a hand.
Donations needed (sign up on the kitchen window):
- 9 oz clear cups
- plastic spoons
- paper towels
- plastic knives
- small plates
- watermelons
- green grapes
- food for volunteers: fruit, coffee cake, doughnuts or other food

Reunion Sunday
July 6
Each year on the first Sunday of July we invite friends and members who have moved away to worship with us. If you know of someone who will be in town that weekend, be sure to invite them!

Summer at SOV for Kids
Our preschool summer camp has begun! There are still a few more openings for next week, so call the office if you know someone who's interested.
