Thanks from our Ministry Partners

Shepherd of the Valley supports a number of ministry programs each year through our budgeted benevolence program. These partners are working to further a mission and values that align with our church's.

We've been sharing the feedback we've recently received from a few of these amazing partners.

Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) World Hunger Program

Dear Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church,

Thank you for your gift to ELCA World Hunger. Your faithful generosity makes a life-changing difference for people in need around the corner and around the world. Your gift is greatly appreciated.

The vision of World Hunger is to end hunger in our world one community at a time and one program at a time. In Uganda, a widow sends her five children to school thanks to your support and the expertise of our local partner, who helped her learn to increase her income by raising goats. In Nepal, our trusted partner helps farmers get started with beekeeping so that they can supplement their income. And in Missouri, volunteers staff a well-designed food pantry, serving neighbors with respect, dignity and efficiency.

As the ELCA, we do more together than any one of us could ever do alone. WE are a church that believes God is calling us into the world -- together. Thank you for your support.

 Stephen Minister Training Update

Our Stephen Minister trainees will be commissioned this Sunday, February 16.

Here is what our Stephen Ministers learned this week. Please pray for their continued growth and pray for those who might begin receiving care from very soon.

Follow Me
This session is a time for review and inspiration as our Stephen Minister trainees prepare to "follow Jesus" in their caregiving journey. They review what it means to be caregivers who are compassionate, full of faith, skilled, trustworthy and Christ-centered.

With the completion of their training, they are ready to provide quality, one-to-one caring ministry on behalf of our congregation. If you or someone you know could benefit from the listening ear, caring presence and Christ-centered support of a Stephen Minister, talk to one of our Stephen Leaders.
