Thanks from our Ministry Partners

Shepherd of the Valley supports a number of ministry programs each year through our budgeted benevolence program. These partners are working to further a mission and values that align with our church's.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be highlighting the feedback we've received from a few of our partners to share their gratitude with you.

Lutheran Social Services Community Care Centers

Dear Shepherd of the Valley,

On behalf of the LSS Community Care centers board and staff, we would like to thanks you for your support. In 2013, LSS Community Care along with more than 10 thousand volunteers served more than 250,000 individuals with emergency services and social programs in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego and Ventura counties.

We are about to launch a new initiative called "Circles of Support," which will break the cycle of poverty for one thousand families, providing a permanent and sustainable pathway to health and wholeness.

Please accept our thanks for your financial support, attendance at events and volunteer time. It means a great deal to those we serve. You have directly helped us fulfill our mission to "celebrate the love of Christ for all people through acts of service, walking with those in need in Southern California."

 Stephen Minister Training Update

This week, our Stephen Minister Trainees learned about the importance of supervised caretaking. Please keep them in your prayers as they near the end of their training.

Supervision: A Key to Quality Christian Care
Stephen Ministers receive twice-monthly supervision from their peers once they begin providing care to others. Supervision ensures that they provide the best care possible, yet is done in a way that keeps the identity of the care receiver and details of his or her situation confidential. Peer supervision is crucial in order to receive the support, encouragement and accountability they will need in their ministry.

Our Stephen Minister trainees will be commissioned on Sunday, February 16.
