DRUGS IN WORKPLACE
The Wednesday morning Safety Council meeting features a presentation about drugs in the workplace and the impact on employers' productivity and safety. Steve Carrel, CEO of Muskingum Behavioral Health is going to talk about what he calls "the elephant in the living room", in other words, drug abuse by employees. Please join us. The meeting is on December 17 from 8 to 9 am at Zanesville Country Club. Admission is $10 which includes breakfast.
ECONOMIC INDICATORS
Here is the most recent monthly Economic Dashboard for Muskingum County, courtesy of the Muskingum County Library System and the Chamber of Commerce. In national economic news, the NFIB small business optimism index surged 2.0 points in November to 98.1 - up from 96.1 in October - for its highest reading of the economic recovery, going back to February 2007.
STORYBOOK CHRISTMAS
Get into the holiday spirit in Zanesville-Muskingum County where the community has adopted the theme "A Storybook Christmas". Many attractions and businesses have chosen their favorite story books and have decorated with that book in mind. Over 50 businesses in Downtown Zanesville, New Concord and Dresden will have sales, specials, events and great decorations. In addition there will be a daily music and light show from 6 - 9 PM at the Muskingum County Courthouse. "A Storybook Christmas" kicks off December 3 and goes through January 4. JOB OUTLOOK
The Department of Job and Family Services provides information on the employment outlook for various professions through 2020. In the southeast Ohio region, overall employment is expected to grow by 7.5%. The most growth is predicted in oil and gas extraction, wood product manufacturing, construction, building material retailing, warehousing, transportation, professional and technical services, healthcare, and other services.
