Business Opportunities - Below is information on some potential sources of new business for you in four specific markets.

 

Government Agencies - The Ohio Business Matchmaker will take place April 22-23 in Dayton. This is a unique event designed to bring together suppliers with buyers from federal, state, local and prime contractors to fulfill their contracting needs and requirements. Buyers and suppliers will have the opportunity to meet for 10 minutes in one-on-one sessions to discuss billions of dollars' worth of upcoming opportunities.  

 

Defense Supply - The US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) supplies the US Military with everything from ammunition to copy paper.  The Land & Maritime division of the DLA operates a major center in Columbus called the Defense Supply Center Columbus. Webinars and seminars are offered by the agency to teach businesses how to become a supplier through the Columbus center. Check their schedule for upcoming instructional programs.

 

Big Business - Do you want to sell to some of the world's biggest corporations? Visit Supplier Connection, a creation of more than a dozen large companies, such as AT&T, Caterpillar, Facebook, Dell, and UPS, that spend a combined $300 billion on outside suppliers.  Small companies can complete a single application to be considered for contracts by the Fortune 500 businesses backing the site.

 

Energy - DUG East is one of the biggest oil and gas industry trade shows in the nation, and its coming up in Pittsburgh on June 3, 4 and 5.  The Chamber through its Muskingum Oil and Gas Coalition is partnering with the Port Authority as exhibitors to promote area businesses and the community.  But if you want to get your company directly involved in oil and gas you may want to attend yourself to test the waters and gather information on the industry. Civil War - Planning meetings are underway for the 2nd Annual Civil War Reenactment a  board the Lorena Sternwheeler. The next meeting will take place at 9:30 AM on Tuesday at the Chamber of Commerce.  If you have an interest in being a part of the planning committee please attend.  For additional information call 455-8282 or kashby@zmchamber.com.

Travel Conference - Last week Lori Kappes, Group Sales Manager in our Convention & Visitors Bureau, represented Ohio at the African American Travel Conference (AATC) in Windsor, Canada where she had appointments with nearly 40 Travel Program Directors. AATC is an association of 2,500 travel planners, serving the African American community. Travel Industry of American (TIA) reports that the African American community travels twice as often on a group package tour as the population as a whole, and AATC acts as the source between these Travel Planners and the Travel Industry.
