Michigan suppliers:

We need your input on domestic advanced

battery manufacturing opportunities

In the fall of 2012, NextEnergy wrapped up phase one of an extensive study on the lithium ion battery cell supply chain, which was focused on select components used in battery cell manufacturing. Supported by the Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA) and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the analysis identified significant gaps and opportunities for domestic materials and components manufacturers.

NextEnergy is seeking to identify existing and/or potential advanced energy storage systems suppliers to help Tier 1 and Tier 2 firms localize and vertically integrate their supply chain. To help us better understand your interest and/or current involvement in the battery industry, please take our brief survey.

For more information about NextEnergy's advanced energy storage work, please contact Kelly Jezierski or Dan Radomski.

NextEnergy launched the MATch (Michigan Accelerating Technologies) Energy Grant on December 1, 2012, a program aimed at leveraging public and private resources to drive increased federal support of Michigan advanced energy companies. The program provides matching funds to eligible Michigan businesses applying for advanced energy-related federal funding. Click here for more information.

Business opportunities

Promising early stage company looking for CEO

NextEnergy is working with an innovative advanced lighting company with an opportunity to penetrate several transportation market applications.

The company is looking to build their management team, starting with an experienced CEO. The candidate would need to work in an advisory/equity position as the business meets certain milestones.

Experience in raising funding for early stage technology companies is a requirement and executive level automotive/transportation industry background is preferred.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Dan Radomski.

Company looking to partner with other power electronics manufacturers

An Israeli-based company has developed an innovative, direct AC-AC converter technology.

Their online single-conversion topology meets or exceeds this same level of protection while maintaining efficiencies normally associated with a standby (line interactive) UPS or double conversion UPS in economy mode (bypass).

This technology offers full, online protection with a lower purchase cost and significantly higher efficiency, and thus offering better margins for its partner and lower total cost of ownership for the user.

The energy router technology combines various AC & DC energy sources for use in UPS, smart grid, renewable energy & micro-grid applications, where cost & efficiency of energy mixing, conversion & routing are critical.

If you are interested in this partnering opportunity, please contact Bess Ng.
