last week salon educators mandy, taylor and molly had the opportunity to participate in a very challenging and inspiring two-day workshop put on by Oribe hair care. the workshop was lead by Oribe himself, who is one of the world's greatest hairdressers.

continuing education is a critical component of a progressive, reputable salon. our guests depend on us to understand and deliver the latest trends in fashion and beauty. hair dressing is an incredibly technical skill, however, it's equally important to challenge ones creativity and vision. to identify and appreciate the uniqueness in each individual. uniqueness in their physical features, their personalities, and their lifestyles. this connection is what makes you fall in love with your hairdresser.

what is so unique and inspiring about this workshop is that Oribe challenges you to see everything differently. to challenge your assumptions about artistry, beauty and style. to push you far outside your comfort zone. he instructs the 350 attendees to create a unique character out of their models in a very limited time frame, using minimal tools and supplies. they are challenged to design a character based on a paradoxical vision, incorporating design elements that are sharp but dull, loud but soft, bright but dark, happy but sad, beautiful but grotesque. opposite extremes together in harmony. you quickly learn to better appreciate and embrace the extreme contrast that exists in nature and in every species.

we are all uniquely different as humans. our role is to help accentuate that uniqueness on the outside resulting in happiness, joy and self-confidence on the inside. that is our passion!
