at the beginning of each month our entire team comes together to recap the previous month's accomplishments and opportunities, and discuss ways to improve our guest experience. we also remind ourselves that our guests have choices and it is an honor to be chosen as their salon and spa. last count there were over 25 choices available on grand avenue alone. wow! we remind ourselves that we need to be unique, and what makes us unique is that we are "team based".
this is something that we don't discuss or promote publicly, but we frequently hear guests commenting and inquiring about the care and comradery we have for each other, and they wonder how we make that possible? we then go on to explain our "team based model" and they become surprised and question why we don't share this unique approach? maybe it's time.
every business strives to achieve the highest level of teamwork. so what makes us unique? we don't pay commission. not on services and not on product sales. we
designed our system to be different and more enjoyable. how? you ask? we compensate our entire team by salary, a nice salary. this pay system is the foundation for 4 critical factors that result in a unique experience:
- it eliminates competition between service providers as they no longer compete with each other for "clients".
- it removes pressure to up sell you services or push products. if our team is recommending a product, it's because they truly believe it's the best product for you, not because they're trying to make a commission on the sale.
- it empowers the guest services team to do everything possible to accommodate you, as you are no longer the "property" of a commissioned service provider.
- it eliminates the barriers between "management" and service providers. (who gets what % of the dollar you spend.) our entire team is involved in how and where we spend our money and how we can be better. we have one common goal: to make you feel special. it's that simple.
so all this behind the scenes stuff truly does manifest into a warm, friendly and uniquely different place. so remember, if you can't get in with your favorite service provider or maybe just want to try out someone else? go for it! we don't mind. we actually encourage it. we just want to see you back!
