When you pray, don't pour out a flood of empty words, as the Gentiles do. They think that by saying many words they'll be heard. Don't be like them, because your Father knows what you need before you ask.  Matthew 6:7-8 (CEB)

Sing Praise!

As the music of our special guests from Bethel College Choir inspired us this week, you, too, can tune your heart to praise! Here are some scriptures to keep you inspired:

Psalm 104:33 I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

Psalm 47:6 Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.

James 5:13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.

Even in the midst of trouble, music and scripture can lift your heart to God this week.

Seeking Volunteers to Take Communion to Shut-Ins
We are seeking individuals or families to serve on our External Communion Team, to bring communion once a month to our members who are home-bound, in assisted living, in a rehab/nursing facility, or may be in the hospital. We will provide everything you need and will conduct a short class on how to bring communion out into our community.

We will match you to one of our members so that each month after our communion Sunday (typically the first Sunday of the month) you can pick up communion elements to bring to that individual sometime during that week.

This is a great ministry for families to get to know our members who are a beloved part of our community of faith. It is our intent that you would always bring communion to the same person so that you are able to build a relationship with them and help them to feel connected to our church family. To learn more, e-mail Cindy Uhrich.

Sharing With Our Community
Get Ready for Matthew 25 House Build Project!
Clay Church will be pounding nails and landscaping on Saturday, May 16th as part of the Matthew 25 house build. Youth of all ages can help with the landscaping, however you must be 16 or older to help with putting up the stud walls. Sign up at the "Do Something" counter this Sunday! We have opportunities to help with the AM shift, the PM shift, and the Lunch Team. Even if you can't help on that day, stop by the counter to write a note or a prayer on one of the 2x4's that will become part of the house. E-mail Doug Fecher with any questions.

Meijer Simply Give Continues Through May 11!
The Meijer Simply Give matching gifts donation program continues through May 11.  This is a great way to support Clay's Food Pantry!  For every $10 donation given at our partner store, 3600 North Portage Road, South Bend, Meijer match another $10.

You can pick up a specially marked $10 Meijer Simply Give card at the Do Something Counter on Sundays at Clay North, or find one in the Portage Road store.  Take the card to the Portage Road store to make your donation.  At the end of the campaign, the Meijer Portage Road store will provide funds to Clay's Food Pantry to purchase food for hungry families.

Thank you for showing your neighbors God's compassion through Clay's Food Pantry ministry!
