Christmas Tree of Love
The Christmas Tree of Love ministry shares Christ's love with children from Clay Church's Food Pantry, Harrison Primary Center and Swanson Primary. This year, our intention is to provide 424 children with Christmas gifts. The tree(s) are located in the lobby of Clay North, and you will have the opportunity from now until Sunday, November 30 to pick up gift tags with information on the child. Each child will have requests listed on a clothing tag and a toy tag; the suggested spending amount is $20 per each tag.
Please return purchased and wrapped gifts to the Christmas tree in the lobby of Clay North by Sunday, December 7th. On Thursday, December 11 starting at 6 p.m. there will be a "gathering of the gifts" party where volunteers of all ages will sort and bag the gifts for delivery (fueled by a pizza and lemonade dinner).
Contact Cindy Ray by e-mail or call 574-208-9348 if you have questions. Please prayerfully consider how you can extend God's love in our community and brighten a child's Christmas!

This Week At Clay Church | |
This Sunday at Clay North, Pastor Brian Durand will continue the Eucharisteo series with a panel discussion message, Give Thanks to the LORD.
Have you ever wondered why we do something in worship? Or why we do not do something in worship at Clay Church that you have experienced elsewhere? We've had questions about wearing robes and singing the Doxology. Now it is your chance. Think about your questions and join us Sunday as Pastor Brian is joined by worship leader Lucas Miner and retired clergy Dr. Bob Morris and Reverend Mark Day to answer your burning questions about worship! If you already have a question, please e-mail it to us. Thank you!
This Sunday at Firehouse, we will kick off our Blessings series. We will be talking about taking time to thank Jesus.
This Sunday at FaithWorks! our little ones will continue making Thankful Leaves and our elementary kids will take a TIME OUT! to learn about generosity! |

Food Pantry Thanksgiving Basket Sorting and Packing!
Saturday, November 22, 2014
9 a.m. - Noon in the FaithWorks Center at Clay North
You may have noticed all of the Food Pantry Thanksgiving Bags that have been returned to Clay North Sanctuary over the past few Sundays. On Saturday, November 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon (after all bags have been returned by Sunday, November 16), you will have the opportunity to sort and prepare these bags for distribution!
The items from the bags need to be sorted to make sure that each recipient gets the same set of items to prepare their Thanksgiving meal. This day will be a great opportunity for all in the Clay Church family, from children to seniors, singles to families, folks of all ages to help prepare these baskets for our friends! So mark your calendar now, and see you on the 22nd!

Project WARM Training Session
Interested in helping others this winter? Consider volunteering at Project WARM this year. This ministry is starting its 4th year of providing shelter, warmth, food, and the love of God to the homeless in South Bend. A volunteer training session will be held on Monday evening, November 17 at 7:00 p.m. at Hope Ministry's building at 432 South Lafayette Blvd., South Bend. Come join Doug Fecher in learning more about how we can help! Or ...
Donations Needed for Project WARM
Preparations are continuing for the December 1st start of Project WARM's weather shelter ministry for homeless men. Use the blue barrels in the lobby of Clay North to donate needed clothing items (socks, underwear, gloves) or serving items (coffee, creamer, sugar). Thank you for offering Christ's hospitality and caring!
Ring the Bell for the Salvation Army
There are still slots available to "ring the bell" for the Salvation Army's annual Christmas Assistance appeal. We will have an indoor location this year. This is a great opportunity for small groups to participate -- for example, the 9th graders are ringing from 6-8 p.m. on November 17. Donations provide assistance to families, senior citizens, the homeless, and many others in need. Sing up at the "Do Something" counter at Clay North this Sunday!
Food Pantry Thanksgiving Baskets
Thank you to all who have already returned shopping bags for the Food Pantry Thanksgiving Basket program! There is one more Sunday to return bags or make a $12 donation for a turkey by placing an envelope marked "Thanksgiving Baskets" in the offering plate -- all are due by November 16. And read more above in the "Growing in Faith" section about your opportunity to help sort and pack the bags on November 22nd! Thank you for caring for our community!
Food Pantry Report for October
In October, the Food Pantry had a roughly 13% increase in from the number of patrons compared to September. 557 families, representing 1,953 individuals, were served in October. Of that number, 18% of the families (101) were new to Clay's Food Pantry, representing 369 people. Thank you for your continued support of families in Michiana.
And a Big "Thank You" ...
... for all of the egg cartons that have been donated to the Food Pantry! At this time, we have more than enough egg cartons to meet our needs, so you do not need to save them for the pantry any longer. Thank you!
