Boston Marathon
From Ashley Cusack, EWM Realtors: REPLY
I don't write about tragedies in JustAskBoo, but as a marathon runner I can't ignore what happened on Monday in Boston. It hit too close to home. I ran the Boston marathon in 1999 - it was my second marathon. I know what a big deal it is to make it to the finish line, and all the training that goes into getting there. It's an incredibly momentous occasion, and so tragic that someone took what should've been such a beautiful moment and in an instant turned it into a horrible one. I'm thankful no one I know was hurt on Monday, but my thoughts and prayers are with everyone who participated or was affected. The Miami running community got together on Tuesday night for a silent run to honor and remember those in Boston. It was a nice tribute, reminding us of how close the running community is here and throughout the country.*

Its a Jungle Out There! It's time to pay it forward! I was given a pre-loved, extra large jungle gym five years ago, and I now want to donate it to a large family or preschool. It has two full size swings, a baby swing, a teeter-toter swing, a climbing rope, a rock wall, a private picnic table and two full-size slides. It needs a little love, but it's nothing a weekend warrior couldn't tackle! If you are interested, all you need to do is arrange for it to be picked up. Feel free to email me for pictures.

Down to Earth
From Team JAB
Monday is Earth Day and many places around town are celebrating our planet with fun activities and presentations. Here are a few great ways to take in the scenery:

The Earth Day celebration includes environmental displays by local and government environmental groups and green businesses. Music will be provided by Grant Livingston.

Start your adventure with an airboat ride or a boating tour, go biking or bird watching, hike around the park on one of the many trails (brochures available at the main entrance or download to a smart phone), canoe or kayak through the natural beauty of the marshes, take a tram tour of the park with a naturalist guide that will take you through the Shark River Slough or camp out at one of the two drive-in campgrounds.
Zoo Miami, Miami
Celebrate at Party for the Planet, this Saturday and Sunday, with fun "green" activities and entertainment for the entire family as well as animal enrichment with recycled items and/or natural materials like newspapers, cardboard tubes, bamboo, old tires, fire hoses, and more. The Tropical Flowering Tree Society will also be hosting its annual plant sale.
