We all love to JAB. It's not only the best resource in town, but, it's also a place where people unite to do good in our community. We are honored to provide them with the platform to do so. With this, we bring you our Six Degrees of JAB Campaign. Once a month, we will feature a story about readers who have made an extraordinary connection through JAB: one that truly shows that "it takes a village."

Here is a story of just such a connection ... JABBERS coming together to do something wonderful.

Bunk beds are assembled at a Habitat for Humanity house by Julie Simon's family and friends.

"When my son Josh joined the Marines, it was time to get rid of his boyhood bunk  beds and turn his room into one for a young adult. I had used JustAskBoo successfully in the past, so naturally, I thought to sell the beds on JAB. A day or so after I posted in the newsletter, I got a call from Ann, inquiring about the price of the beds. She wanted to buy them for a dear friend who had just moved into a Habitat for Humanity home which she needed to furnish for her children. She explained to me that this woman had worked in food service at the University of Miami for years, and had been a successful single mom who had finally qualified for her own housing. With a story like that, I couldn't sell the beds to Ann. I told her I would just give them to her friend.

Then came the challenge of transporting the beds to the new home in North Miami. My son, who by that time had returned from his first deployment in Afghanistan, happened to have a pick-up truck. We dismantled the beds, loaded everything into the truck and together, we all delivered the beds to a very happy family."

- JABBER Julie Simon
