JAB Spotlight: Maggie Mae Reid
Dear JABBERS: We want to introduce you to Maggie Mae Reid, an actress born and raised in Miami who is now living her dream in Hollywood. JAB is thrilled to bring you the scoop ... directly from Maggie. She says, "Growing up as the middle child, I always wanted a lot of attention. When I was six years old, my mom took me to see the musical Gypsy, and from that moment on I knew I wanted to be an actress." Maggie even entertained her babysitter, our very own Boo Zamek!
After taking acting classes at Coral Gables' Actors' Playhouse and participating in the theater department at Carver Middle School and Coral Gables Senior High, Maggie headed to Denison University where she received a Bachelor's degree in Theatre and Film. After graduation, she moved to Tinseltown and now has a recurring role as "Grace" on ABC's hit show Revenge (Sundays, 9 pm). Actress Helen Hunt just directed her in an episode! In addition, she's worked on Showtime's acclaimed Californication. Maggie says it's currently pilot season in Hollywood so she is hoping to start auditioning for new shows or some old favorites. Her dream is to work on a live audience sitcom since it's so much like theater.
Maggie still has her roots in Coral Gables and comes home about three times a year to see her family. A must-have when she's here: Whip 'n Dip ice cream. While she misses big thunderstorms and the people here, she doesn't have to look far for familiar faces in Los Angeles - her roommate and one of her good friends are both from Miami!
