End-Of-Year Market Snapshot

By Ashley Cusack, EWM Realtors:  REPLY Cusack

As we approach 2013, I wanted to look back at the year and give a summary of where we are this year compared to this time last year. I looked at non-waterfront non-distressed homes in Pinecrest, Coral Gables and Coconut Grove.  This chart provides worthwhile information and indeed shows our market improvements in the past year. Here are a few highlights: There are less homes on the market across the board, with a 15% decrease in inventory in Coral Gables; Coconut Grove went from 12 months of inventory last year down to 5 months this year - a 58% drop in one year and 11 homes sold on average per month last year, with 21 selling per month this year; the price per square foot of sold homes in Pinecrest has increased 6%, and surprisingly we see that the numbers are slightly down in the Gables and Grove. We're looking forward to another eventful year in 2013! To visit my website, click HERE.*

JAB's Favorite Thanksgiving Recipes

From Team JAB Squash

Here at JAB, we love to share our favorite things! In the next few newsletters leading up to Thanksgiving, be on the lookout for some tasty recipes from our team members for the hearty holiday.

Emilie Goldman Wernick, Miami South Managing Editor

My absolutely favorite Thanksgiving dish is Squash Casserole. It is just so creamy and delicious. I love it so much that I continually make it throughout the year. Yum!

Squash Casserole

Ingredients

2 pounds squash thickly sliced (7 cups)

1/4 cup chopped onion

1 10 3/4 ounce can low sodium cream of chicken soup

1 cup light sour cream

1 cup shredded carrot

1/4 cup butter

2 cups herb-seasoned stuffing mix (about 1/2 of 8 ounce package)

Directions

Cook squash with onion in boiling salt water for 5 to 10 minutes. Drain well. Combine soup and sour cream. Stir in shredded carrot. Fold in drained squash and onion. Melt butter; toss with stuffing mix. Spread half of the stuffing in a 12 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish (about 1 1/2 to 2-quart size). Spoon vegetable mixture on top. Sprinkle with remaining stuffing mixture. Bake at 350 until heated through, 25 to 30 minutes. Makes 6 servings.
