DONATE JEWISH THEMED DVDs
Inmates at Lovelock and at Northern Nevada in Carson City have been granted some time on Saturday evenings to watch Jewish and or Israeli content movies in a dvd format after their service. It would be a mitzvah to provide them with dvds which are no longer being watched. Please provide the dvds to Rabbi Beth. Thank you for your help. Blessings to you and your family.

The Reno Gazette Journal hosts Faith Forum on Sundays. A question is answered by clergy from many faiths. Rabbi Beyer provides the Jewish response.
RGJ asked: How Should One Approach Death?
G-d's Oneness
Some exceptionally righteous individuals approach death with joy because they know that whatever G-d decrees is for each of us is for the best. Thus, they view their impending death as fulfilling G-d's will. So, they are joyful. However, such a positive attitude is beyond the ability of most. For many, there is sadness of leaving loved ones. For some, there may be sadness at not having finished their life's work or other regrets.
Concentrating on the unity of G-d and ensuring that we have completed any necessary teshuvah (returning and repentance) are overarching goals at the time of death. The Vidui (confession of sins) acknowledges our failures, asks G-d to heal them and often includes a prayer to watch over our loved ones. The last prayer at the time of death is one central to our faith: "Hear O Israel, the Eternal is our G-d, the Eternal is One."
Faith Forum appears each Sunday in the Local Life Section of the Reno Gazette Journal. Faith Forum clergy answer a question posed each week and responses in the paper are limited to 150 words. Rabbi Beyer is featured as the "Jewish" response. In February 2016 it will be 5 YEARS for Faith Forum column to run in the RGJ. This interfaith group is now working towards a book which would be an edited collection of these columns. See www.nevadafaithforum.org
