Bike Camp-Out Night Ride on the Towpath Trail - June 4-5, 2016
Century Cycles joins the Adventure Cycling Association in celebrating National Bike Travel Weekend (June 3-5) in honor of the ACA's 40th Anniversary! On June 4, we're transforming our regular Night Ride on the Towpath Trail into a Bike Camp-Out Night Ride!
This event is FREE and fun for the whole family! For details, including the schedule of activities, suggested packing list, and registration form, go to:
If you don't want to camp out, you are still welcome to join in on the regular 14-mile out-and-back Night Ride! The ride starts promptly at 8:00pm from the parking lot of the Peninsula store. Arrive earlier to have plenty of time to find parking, get yourself and your bike ready, and check in.
Our Night Rides are FREE, open to all ages and skill levels, and take place on the car-free Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. They are about 14 miles long, which usually takes about an hour and a half to two hours. You must have your own bicycle, headlight, and helmet.

Another successful year for the Century Cycles Bike To School Challenge
The biggest bike-to-school program in the nation, the Century Cycles Bike To School Challenge, concluded on May 20. Over 4,000 students at seven Northeast Ohio schools took the challenge to ride their bikes to school for fun, fitness, and to help the environment.
In Bay Village, the Bike To School Challenge returned to Bay Middle School and Westerly Elementary School. In Medina, the BTS Challenge returned to A.I. Root Middle School and Claggett Middle School, and H.G. Blake Elementary School. In Rocky River, the BTS Challenge returned to Rocky River Middle School and Kensington Elementary School!
The Bike To School Challenge attracted attention from local news outlets, including the Westlake Bay Village Observer, Rockport Observer, Westlife, the Medina Gazette, and Fox 8 Cleveland!
During the three weeks of the Bike To School Challenge, students at all eight schools set new records and racked up the following impressive statistics:
-
Biked a total of 18,166 round-trip rides to school, cycling a total of 50,501 miles.
- Saved 38,817 pounds of CO2 from the atmosphere.
- Saved their parents $4,456 in gasoline costs.
- Burned over 1.2 million calories, the equivalent of over 6,850 cans of Coca-Cola.
The students' cycling also earned them prizes from event sponsors Bike Cleveland, Castle Noel, Dairy Queen, Domino's Pizza, Honey Hut Ice Cream Shoppe, Rinky Dink Family Fun Center, School House Scoops, River Dog Cafe, Subway, Starbucks Coffee, Whole Foods Market, plus chances at the grand prizes of bicycles provided by Century Cycles and Raleigh Bicycles!
