Bike To School Challenge Kicks Off in May

The biggest bike-to-school program in the nation, the Century Cycles Bike To School Challenge, begins on May 2, 2016, with events in Bay Village, Rocky River, and Medina.

From May 2 through May 20, over 5,000 students at seven schools will take the challenge. The students are gearing up to compete for prizes and hope to beat last year's impressive numbers.

Sponsors Raleigh Bicycles and Century Cycles will award Raleigh bicycles to students as prizes, along with prizes from other local and national sponsors.

To help students and their families prepare for the Bike To School Challenge, we've teamed up with the local communities to bring you these events, all free and open to the public:
  • April 26, 6:00-7:30pm - Rocky River Bicycle Fair at Rocky River Middle School (1631 Lakeview Avenue). Bring your bike in for a free safety inspection, get more information about the Rocky River Bike To School Challenge, and talk to other program sponsors. The first 20 attendees receive a FREE bike helmet (limit one helmet per family).
  • April 27, 6:30-8:00pm - Bike To School Night at Century Cycles in Medina (1059 North Court Street). Bring your bicycle to the store for a free safety inspection, check out cool bike commuting gear, and learn more about the Medina Bike To School Challenge.The first 10 attendees receive a FREE bike helmet (limit one helmet per family).
  • April 28, 6:00-7:30pm - Bay Village Bicycle Fair at Bay Middle School (27725 Wolf Road). Bring your bike in for a free safety inspection, get more information about the Bay Bike To School Challenge, plus talk to other program sponsors.The first 20 attendees receive a FREE bike helmet (limit one helmet per family).

In Bay Village, the Bike To School Challenge returns to Bay Middle School and Westerly Elementary School. In Medina, the BTS Challenge returns to A.I. Root Middle School, Claggett Middle School, and H.G. Blake Elementary School. In Rocky River, the BTS Challenge returns to Rocky River Middle School and Kensington Elementary School!

Night Rides on the Towpath Trail are BACK for the 22nd season!

Our ever-popular Night Rides on the Towpath Trail kick off the 2016 with our first ride on Saturday, April 23rd! The ride starts promptly at 8:00pm from the parking lot of the Peninsula store. Arrive earlier to have plenty of time to find parking, get yourself and your bike ready, and check in.

Our Night Rides are FREE, open to all ages and skill levels, and take place on the car-free Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. They are about 14 miles long, which usually takes about an hour and a half to two hours. You must have your own bicycle, headlight, and helmet.

We've got a number of SPECIAL Night Ride events planned for this year! Our most popular ride, the Pajama Party Night Ride, is on Saturday, July 9. We're having a fund-raiser for the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park on Saturday, August 13. We'll end the season with a Costume Party Night Ride on Saturday, September 24. More details about these events will be announced later!

We are partnering with the Adventure Cycling Association for National Bike Travel Weekend (June 3-5) and National Bike Your Park Day (September 24) in celebration of the ACA's 40th Anniversary! On June 4, we'll have an OPTIONAL Bike-Camp Out Night Ride overnight trip along with the regular Night Ride! For details, go to: www.centurycycles.com/for/BikeCampOut
Sunday Service Road Bike Group Rides

Sunday Service Road Bike Group Ride in Medina
Yes, we have group rides for roadies, too! We've got a full schedule of road bike rides at all three of our stores (Medina, Peninsula, and Rocky River). We ride about 18-25 miles at a moderate pace and wait at every turn for the group to catch up (nobody left behind!).

The next ride is this Sunday, April 17 in Peninsula, then on Sunday, April 24 in Rocky River, then on Sunday, May 1 in Medina. All of the rides start at 8:00am sharp!

Register with Team Left Hand/Century Cycles for the Bike MS Buckeye Breakaway!


You can join the BEST team for the Bike MS Buckeye Breakaway! We've already got 62 members, and more are welcome!

The deadline to join and enjoy the benefits of Team Left Hand/Century Cycles is May 18. The ride takes place on August 6-7 and goes from Brunswick to Ashland, Ohio and back. Donations support the Ohio Buckeye Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society!
