That's why the registration fee for this very special charity Night Ride is $20/person - because every Night Rider's registration helps pay for a family's stay. Northeast Ohio is "Land Where Kids Ride," say Bicycling Magazine; Bike To School Challenge Off to Record Start!
Bicycling Magazine sent executive editor David Howard to Bay Middle School on National Bike to School Day on May 8, and he was stunned to watch 634 students (a whopping 77% of the school!) arrive on their bikes. He reported on his experience in this story, "The Land Where Kids Ride: In suburban Cleveland, an astonishing number of children ride to school. Here's what we can learn from them." Besides garnering national attention from Bicycling and The Atlantic Cities, it has also been a record-setting start to Bike to School Challenge -- all but one school in the program are double-digit growth over last year's ridership, with three schools logging record days. Overall, the program averaged 1,275 bicyclists to school per day at the five schools, for a total of 6,375 bike-rides to school! Before the three-week program concludes on May 23 at Rocky River Middle School and on May 24 at Bay Middle and High Schools and Medina middle schools, we highly encourage you to bike to one of the school's and check it out for yourself - it's an amazing and inspiring sight to see! |
