Where We Ride: West Side Metroparks Loop
Century Cycles' store in Rocky River is located less than a mile from the Cleveland Metroparks. The staff there (as well as every Northeast Ohio cyclist) knows that the "Emerald Necklace" formed by the Metroparks contains some of the area's best riding.
This 36-mile West Side Metroparks Loop route starts at the Huntington Reservation in Bay Village, then takes you through the Rocky River Reservation. You'll pass by the Rocky River store before heading back to the shores of Lake Erie for the return stretch to where you started.
Find all the details, including a map, elevation profile, and where to refuel during the ride (you can even download the route to your Garmin GPS device) at:

2013 Bike To School Challenge
The biggest bike to school event in America is back! More than 4,000 students from five schools in Northeast Ohio will be riding in Century Cycles Bike To School Challenge on May 6-24, 2013.
The three-week challenge incentivizes the students in Bay Village, Medina and Rocky River to ride their bikes as much as possible - to help the environment, save gas, improve their health and academic performance, inspire everyone around them, and have fun! The more they bike, the more they win great prizes from sponsors Century Cycles, Raleigh Bicycles, Subway, Honey Hut, Bike Cleveland, People For Bikes and many more!
Last year the students biked over 50,000 miles, burned nearly 1 million calories, and saved Mom and Dad $8,700 in gasoline in just three weeks! What will they do this year? Follow Bike To School Challenge on Facebook or Twitter for daily updates!
Join Us At a Bicycle Fair
Everyone is also welcome to attend three FREE bike fairs that will help kick off a great National Bike Month in May and get students ready for Bike To School Challenge:
- Medina Bicycle Fair: Tuesday, April 30, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Claggett Middle School (420 East Union Street in Medina OH 44256).
- Bay Village Bicycle Fair: Wednesday, May 1 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Bay Middle School (27725 Wolf Road in Bay Village OH 44140).
- Rocky River Bicycle Fair: Thursday, May 2, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Rocky River Middle School (1631 Lakeview in Rocky River OH 44116).
All the fairs are free and open to the public. Activities include:
- Professional bicycle mechanics from Century Cycles will provide free bicycle safety inspections and make smoothies on the Century Cycles blender bike.
- Century Cycles and Raleigh Bicycles are teaming up to give away 20 bicycle helmets to the first 20 families who attend each fair (limit: one helmet per family).
- Bike to School Challenge organizers and sponsors will exhibit and each community's police department plans to attend with bike licenses.

Take our latest online poll!
More studies are showing that biking for transportation (to errands, work or school) is more helpful in losing weight and promoting health than working out at the gym. (Plus it's more fun to go by bike!) But how do you haul what you need? That leads us to this month's poll question....
How do you prefer to carry things by bike?
Click here to take our latest online poll and let us know!
Last month's poll asked, "How many bicycles does your household own?" The most responses (57%) were "3 -6," and 3% of the people responding own over 20 bikes! You can see the full results of the last poll here.
