"Book Scavenger" Hunt On Now: Author Event Friday, June 5 at 6PM with Jennifer Chambliss Bertman!

We are so excited to welcome the author of a brand new series for all lovers of fun mysteries that is getting well-deserved press coverage, including SFGate, The American Booksellers Association, and of course the Los Altos Town Crier!

Book Scavenger tells the exciting tale of middle school students following clues, hunting for books while they themselves are being hunted, and using all their puzzle-solving skills to figure out the endgame.

Jennifer was at Springer and Blach yesterday and will be at Bullis Charter School tomorrow to share her book with local kids!

Jennifer grew up in Mountain View and attended both Springer Elementary and Blach Intermediary Schools, and even worked at Linden Tree as a bookseller!

She is thrilled to be back in her own backyard to bring this innovative adventure and mystery to readers ages 8 and up.

We have hidden ARCs (Advance Readers Copies) around downtown Los Altos: participate in the fun for a chance to win some great prizes when you attend the event on Friday, June 5, starting at 6PM!

The final clue will be uploaded tomorrow in preparation for our special event!

Author Story Time Saturday, June 20 at 1PM: LeUyen Pham, "There's No Such Thing As Little"

A heartwarming book for ages 2 and up that takes a look at all things little . . . and reveals some big surprises with each turn of the page.

Please join author and illustrator LeUyen Pham as she presents her fabulous book There's No Such Thing As Little on Saturday, June 20, at 1PM.

About the book: These things may seem little: A fish. An idea. A snowflake. But what if that little fish was also brave? And that little idea was fantastic? And that little snowflake turned out to be unique in all the world?

Featuring die-cut holes in the spirit of Laura Vaccaro Seeger's Lemons Are Not Red, There's No Such Thing as Little is bright, warm, and endlessly inviting, and will encourage readers of all ages to think BIG about what "little" really means.

RSVP to info@lindentreebooks.com or call us at 650-949-3390.

Summer Concert Lineup!

It's what you've been waiting for: The Linden Tree Summer Concert Schedule!

Plan to join us every Wednesday morning from June 17 through August 12 for fun, frivolity, and fanfare (or some other music-related word that starts with "F").

Suggested admission is one new book per family, preferably purchased at Linden Tree, that will go to Reading Partners, a non-profit that provides free literacy tutoring with local children who are aiming for grade-level reading proficiency.

All performances are Wednesdays at 10:30 in the morning.

This long-time tradition is one we are proud to continue: promoting local musicians and entertainers, providing a warm (yet air conditioned) space for the community, and getting books into the hands of children who need them most.

Our enormously popular Book Fair continues through June 15, so stop in any time to quickly pick up quality summer reads for everyone (including you!)

Our staff has hand-selected their favorite books for age groups and written up specific recommendations for the levels and interests for:

  • K-2nd Grade
  • Grades 3-6
  • Grades 5-8
  • High School (Young Adult)
  • Teachers (and Other Grownups) Gifts (both for classrooms and personal reading)
  • Required Summer Reads from area schools

Start your summer off right -- we've made it quick and easy for you to make fantastic selections for yourself and your family!
