Authors of Shivers! To Visit  Santa Rita Elementary

We are pleased to welcome the authors of Shivers!: The Pirate Who's Afraid Of Everything, Annabeth Bondor-Stone and Connor White, to visit Santa Rita Elementary for a private event.

About the book from Harper Collins: Meet Shivers, the scaredy-est pirate to ever sail the Seven Seas. Along with his best friend, Margo, and his loyal fishmate (yes, you read that correctly), Albee, Shivers battles a giant squid, discovers hidden treasures, and saves his parents from the clutches of evil. (Yep, that's right: evil!)

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll never eat snails again. So put on your pantaloons, batten down the hatches, and join Shivers on his first (but still very dangerous) adventure. Comic book-like illustrations bring Shivers to life and invite even the most reluctant readers to join the adventure.

Best for ages 7-10.

African Folk Tale & Poetry Slam Saturday, March 7 at 1:00PM

Come to an African Folk Tale and Poetry Slam at Linden Tree on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. presented by Ellen Clark. Enjoy all the animal puppets and stories from Zimbabwe!

Ellen is a resident of Los Altos, the president of The Sustainable Living Foundation (501c3) and the Meet Director for The 16th Annual Run for Zimbabwe Orphans and Fair, which will be held Sunday March 22 in Mountain View at St. Joseph School.

Author and Illustrator of Mei-Mei's Lucky Birthday Noodles Saturday, March 14 at 1:00PM!

Meet Shan-Shan Chen, the author, AND Heidi Goodman, the illustrator, of this loving story of adoption, Chinese culture and a special birthday treat on Saturday, March 14 at 1 in the afternoon.

Along with a special Story Time and book discussion for children ages 3 to 7, we will also have a craft activity related to the book from Tuttle/Simon & Schuster.

Readers will see the adoptive experience at its best: a lot of love and the sharing of roots, showing both parents and kids one of the many ways adopted children from all over the world can learn about the country they come from and take pride in its culture.

RSVP appreciated so we can supply enough craft materials.
