Affordable Care Act (ACA) - 2013 Rebates |
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) require health insurers to calculate and report the percentage of premium they spend on medical care. If an insurer spends less than 85 percent of large-group premiums and less than 80 percent of small-group premiums on medical care, the insurer will issue a rebate to policyholders.
Coventry Health Care will not be issuing MLR rebates to group commercial clients in the Mid-Atlantic Region (HealthAmerica, Coventry of Delaware and Coventry of West Virginia) this year.
We always strive to be the provider of low-cost, high-value, managed care products and services. As a result, our goal is to accurately predict medical cost trend, price accordingly and, as much as possible, minimize the need to issue rebates.
Again, this applies to our group customers only. For more information about rebates being issued in our Delaware, Maryland, or West Virginia markets for our individual policies through CoventryOne, please click here.
