SILENT AUCTION AT RISING TIDE
Sunday, Nov 15 - A Silent Auction will be held on the last day of Pir Zia's seminar (Friday-Sunday, Nov 13-15). Bids will be accepted from now until the auction on Sunday. WEEKLY SILENT MEDITATION AT RISING TIDE
Tuesdays, 6-7pm - Come sit a while (or lie down if you prefer) & experience the peace & beauty of silent meditation. Open to everyone, newcomers to advanced meditators. KARMA YOGA CLASS AT GARDEN OF THE HEART YOGA
This is a pay-what-you-can, beginner-friendly mixed-levels yoga class. It is offered as a way to build community and support Garden of the Heart's Karma Yoga Outreach Program, which provides free yoga classes to veterans with PTSD, children with Autism and other developmental disorders, and people with Parkinson's Disease. When you participate in a Karma Yoga class, you are giving back to the Sarasota community, in exchange for receiving a great yoga class taught by a different teacher each week. 2) Casa de Kids is a Sarasota- based 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to care for and empower orphans by providing housing, education and life skills. Drew Vogt and Jeanne Avery are relocating from Sarasota to Oaxaca City, Mexico by year-end to begin groundwork for the first Casa de Kids center. Its' purpose will be to provide a safe and nourishing environment for abandoned children and orphans. As cycles of illiteracy and poverty are broken, educated young people are better able to assist their families and become successful in their home-region instead of engaging in street crime or becoming migrant workers. NEXT SIDEWALK ASTRONOMY AT RIVERVIEW HIGH SCHOOL
Saturday, Nov 21 - The Local Group of Deep Sky Observers is pleased to announce our next Sidewalk Astronomy event! Weather permitting, on Saturday, November 21, starting at sunset (shortly after 5:30 pm) and continuing until 10:00 p.m., we will be setting up our high-quality telescopes for your viewing pleasure at Sarasota's Riverview High School - in the parking lot near the school's planetarium. The school is located at 1 Ram Way, Sarasota, off of Proctor Rd, (between Swift & Rt 41).
Highlights of the evening include incredible close up views of the first-quarter moon as well as an opportunity to spot both Uranus and Neptune--the two most distant planets in the solar system! A variety of other celestial objects will be viewed through the club member's telescopes as they become visible throughout the night.
