"continue the legacy...by making a donation to The Founder's Fund"

Doug Pringle
"Skiing was the first thing I did that made me feel 'normal' after losing my leg." And, so began a new career for a young Army lieutenant fresh from combat in Vietnam 45 years ago. Doug Pringle's dream of serving a career in the military was dashed in an instant. Doug's drive to change the world, however, was not diminished. With his newfound passion for skiing, Doug poured all his energies into creating a movement that would help change how society defined "disabled" and "normal."

The courage it took Doug to start over has benefitted not only him, but countless other people with disabilities over the years. The organization he created, directed and nurtured has matured into a leader in adaptive sports delivery. After a long and distinguished career, which includes induction into the Ski Hall of Fame, Doug's career has changed yet again.

I am so pleased to announce that as of October 1, Doug is now the Chairman Emeritus of Disabled Sports USA Far West, a title that recognizes his unparalleled achievements as the Founder of Disabled Sports. Also, we are all proud of Doug's longstanding leadership in the national movement to make sports available to all. We are all fortunate that he is continuing his legacy by staying with us in his new capacity.

Doug credits his success to you!

"It has been a wonderfully fulfilling experience, and the reasons are simple:

You have cared about what I cared about!

You have supported the cause!

You have participated in our programs and events giving them value!

You have helped make the world a better place!

You have given my life's work meaning and value!

Thank you for your support. Thank you for caring!"

Help us continue the legacy that began in 1967 by making a donation to "The Founder's Fund" to honor Doug's contributions. We are so grateful for your previous gifts. Please consider increasing it this year. With your help we can inspire the next "Doug" to make life better for people with disabilities.

Haakon Lang-Ree has taken over as our new Executive Director. While Haakon's title is new, he is not new to Disabled Sports. Born in Norway, raised in the Bay Area and educated at Stanford University, Haakon has skied as long as he can remember. He joined Disabled Sports in 1992 as a volunteer and has served as Assistant Director and Program Director. He is uniquely qualified to carry on Doug's legacy. Haakon is supported by an experienced and dedicated staff which remains unchanged and whom we thank for their commitment to the cause.
Let's keep Doug's life-long passion thriving. Please make your tax-deductible gift to The Founder's Fund at Disabled Sports USA Far West.

Thank you!
