Conference Gatherings
Throughout the month of September, Bishop Burk gathered with members of the Southeastern Iowa Synod for a time of conversation that was focused on creating a deeper understanding of what it means to walk together as we are Led by the Spirit to fulfill the mission of Christ's church.

If you were unable to attend one of the gatherings, you are invited to watch this invitation from Bishop Burk to enter into a time of conversation and listening within your congregation. Watch the videos
Lock in Your Organization's 2015 ELCA-Primary Health Benefit Option
Between now and Oct. 17, your organization will need to select one ELCA-Primary health benefit option to provide in 2015 (even if your plan members currently waive ELCA-Primary health benefits). Check your mail - we recently sent an enrollment booklet to your organization's president or director.

You can either continue your current option into 2015 or consider a different one. To get started, head to EmployerLink. There, you'll find information to help you and other decision-makers select your option.

Your plan members will enter their 2015 benefit decisions Oct. 27 - Nov. 21. Already made your selection? Thank you!

Almost 50 years, later my daughter, Anastasia Osbeck, has been commissioned and sent by the ELCA's Global Missions' program, Young Adults in Global Missions (YAGM), to serve as a missionary in the United Kingdom... Read More

Mission of the Month: Church Just Needs Bricks and Mortar

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zambia is growing fast - so fast it needs more church buildings!

This young, vibrant church now has almost 6,000 members in 40 worshiping communities spread across four provinces.

Of those 40 worshiping communities, only four have sturdy, weatherproof buildings. "The rest meet in thatched pole-and-mud structures. There are instances when members would find themselves worshiping under a tree because their building collapsed in a windstorm," says the Rev. Alfred Chana, senior pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zambia. Read More
