Save the date: 2014 Fall Theological Conference
Rostered leaders of the Southeastern Iowa Synod are invited to the 2014 Fall Theological Conference. This annual event provides the opportunity for leaders to gather together for a weekend of fellowship, learning, and dialogue with one another.

Gathered around the theme, "Speaking with Greater Boldness:  Public Witness on the Model of Philippians, this year's conference will be held on September 28-30, 2014
at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. This year's speakers are, Dr. James Nieman and Pastor Susan Briehl.

Vision Trip to Pare Diocese
Pastor Eric Carlson, Assistant to Bishop Burk, led members from the Southeastern Iowa Synod on a Vision Trip to the Pare Diocese in Tanzania June 23-July 4. 

The goals of the Vision Trip were to:
  • Be renewed and empowered in faith and commitment to Christ's mission by one another's witness to the Gospel.
  • Be educated and challenged by encounters with one another's joy and sorrows.
  • To enhance and increase understanding about the work of the Companion Synod Ministry.
  • To increase individual understanding of the concept of accompaniment, especially for those who have not had the opportunity to visit the Pare Diocese.
  • To enlarge and deepen understanding of the work of the Pare Diocese in areas that include but not limited to: evangelism, education, agriculture, and health and human services.

Save the date for Global Church Sunday

On World Communion Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, congregations are invited to celebrate our church's connection and common 

mission within Christ's global church by sponsoring a Global Church Sunday. Celebrate by taking a special offering for an ELCA missionary or global ministry, hosting a coffee hour with treats from around the world or including global songs in your worship service. A toolkit of these and other ideas for congregations will be released this August.

Job opportunity: Director of Budget Planning 
The ELCA churchwide seeks an experienced leader and budget manager to serve as its next Director for Budget Planning. 
Located at the ELCA churchwide organization in Chicago, IL, the Director for Budget Planning is responsible for assisting the Treasurer and Executive for Administration in the development and management of the churchwide organization budgets. This includes income and expense analysis. This senior leader will supervise and direct the activities of staff servicing the units of this church in their budgeting and accounting responsibilities.
