What is the Flavor of Borrego? Eddie and Ferretti's, of Course!
|
Eddie and Ferretti's Baja Style Seasoning Mix is an all-natural mixture of spices including garlic and chilies. It is truly a Borrego product that was developed by long-time Borregan Leslie Bellah, crafted after her grandmother's recipes which were made with spices that she grew and dried herself.
Every pack of Eddie and Ferretti's comes with five 1/2 ounce packs of the spice mix. Inside the packaging you will find no less than ten recipes for delicious salsas, guacamole, marinade and enchilada sauces. The mix contains no MSG, additives or preservatives.
Eddie and Ferretti's is now available at The Springs at Borrego by mail order and in the pro shop!

Fiftieth Anniversary Borrego Days
A Smash Success
| |
The 50th Anniversary Borrego Days Desert Festival was held October 23-25, and by all accounts the event was a huge success both in terms of attendance and the quality of the events.
An estimated 14-15,000 people lined the parade route which went all the way around Christmas Circle. The parade, with over 90 entrants, went off without a hitch, and was widely acclaimed to be the best in many, many years, if not the best ever. Jim Wilson, Christmas Circle Park President and longtime Borrego Springs resident, exclaimed, "I have been attending the parade for more years than I can remember but this years was the best ever!"

The parade kicked off with a flyover of a fleet of private planes from the Borrego Air Ranch, then a battery of war birds including Stearman bi-wings and heavy war birds, including a C-47, which is the World War II military version of the big DC-3. Talk about awe-inspiring!
|
| Whitney Shay and Robin Henkel were instant crowd favorites.
|
Music rocked Christmas Circle for three straight days, beginning on Friday afternoon with the Blues and Dance All Stars, and finishing with the very popular Mariachi Estrella on Sunday evening. Highlights of the weekend included the amazing Whitney Shay, who bowled us over with her rockin' blues set, Graham Nancarrow, who made instant country music fans out of everyone there, and Izon Eden, who the Borrego Sun described as "the joy-inspiring Patty Holley and her mad-genius partner on the keyboards, Dayton Borders, inspiring a crowd of happy people to dance under the stars."

The highlight of the music for many was the appearance of the United States Marine Corps 3rd Aircraft Wing bands Saturday afternoon. First the New Orleans-style jazz band, then their rock and roll band thrilled the crowd.

Sunday was Mexican music day, starting with
La Voz finalist Angel Miguel de Millan, affectionately known as "El Potrito de Sinaloa". Angel entertained the crowd with a large selection of Mexican folk songs and was joined on the stage by his younger brother Gabby.
Next up was local band Projecto Dos, a "ranchero" style band, then the day was topped off by Mariachi Estrella! As the sun set on Borrego Days 2015 at 6 PM on Sunday, chants of "Otra! Otra!" ("Another Song!") came out the the still busy beverage garden, capping a weekend festival as close to perfect as one could hope for.
The town was buzzing for days afterward, as many seemed to agree that Borrego Days 2105 was one of the biggest and best ever!
