It's November, and another beautiful season of recreation is in full swing here in California's Secret Desert™.
The Springs Golf Course has reopened, and Superintendent James Mendez has outdone himself to get it into great shape for us.
 
Coming up this month are some great events and entertainment, starting on Sunday, November 4 for a poolside concert with folk and bluegrass band Jake's Mountain. Later that same day we'll host another of our season series of Star Parties with Dennis Mammana. Then on Thursday the 15th, we'll be "Dancing for our Senior Stars" with one of Southern California's favorite dance bands, Izon Eden, then round out the month with a rockin' party on Friday, November 23rd with family band Lucky Tongue.

Sunday, November 4 at 6:30 PM, Star Party with Dennis Mammana.  
Join us for another of our entertaining astronomical events. This month, the topic is the "Greatest Light Show on Earth". High above the arctic regions of Earth glow the shimmering colors of the northern lights - the aurora borealis. Learn the origins and lore of these mysterious lights, and relive Dennis' journeys into the frozen outback of Alaska to capture with his camera the Greatest Light Show on Earth!
The program includes a light dinner and telescope viewing for only $15!

Thursday, November 15 at The RoadRunner Clubhouse

Benefit Dinner and Dance with Izon Eden. Join us as we have a good time for a great cause. We'll start with an elegant roasted chicken dinner, then dance the night away with SoCal favorites Dayton Borders and Patty Holley as Izon Eden. We'll have some great prizes to raffle off and maybe a few other surprises! Tickets are only $25 and can be purchased at The Springs RV desk or at The RoadRunner Club office. All proceeds will go to benefit the Borrego Springs Senior Center. Call 760-767-0004 for more information.

 

Thursday, November 22 at 3 PM.  Thanksgiving Holiday Potluck    Dinner.    

Join us at the Torres Room for a family-reunion style holiday meal. We''ll cook the turkeys, you bring your favorite family-recipe side dish, and we'll share the gratitude and grace of this most special American holiday.

 

    Lucky Tongue

 Friday November 23, 6-9 PM. Mexican Buffet Dinner and Free Concert with family Band Lucky Tongue. Join us at the Torres Room for the antidote to that overdose of tryptophan you got from all that turkey. We'll start out with a zesty and delicious Mexican Buffet dinner with carne asada, pollo asado and all the fixin's for just $10. Then we'll jump-start the place with a rollickin' show with classic rockers Lucky Tongue starring Blaine, Dylan and Blade Ward.

Welcome back to The Springs at Borrego - The best kept secret in the desert!

 

I'm thrilled to be back, and here to tell you about some new programs and events we will be offering this season.

 

The famous Nine and Wine will be back and in full force - I have some fresh ideas for games along with some extra twists to help encourage all players to participate in this fun event on Thursday afternoons.  

  Golfing The Springs

Watch for our tournament and teaching event schedule coming soon to our website so you can plan accordingly.  Some friendly reminders will be generated via email to help encourage sign-ups so we can accommodate all players.   (Red Neck Open, Borrego Cup, World'sToughest, etc...). We do plan to bring back the Glow Ball event this year, so break out the flashlights and headlamps!!

We are unveiling our first Unlimited Driving Range Pass at the Springs.  So, those of you that love to practice, this is a great chance to make it count and get some value out of your investment.  The range pass for the Season will be $295.00.

The other new item we will be implementing this season is a Trail Pass for the Springs Course.  If you own or rent a private cart, you will need to register your cart with us at the Pro Shop and purchase either a daily trail fee or a seasonal trail fee.  This fee is being implemented in order to put more funds into improving our trails throughout the Springs Course.  The fees will be minimal but is something that is needed. The fee will be $3.00 for 9 Holes, $5.00 for 18 Holes or $100.00 for the entire season. No Trail Pass will be needed at the RoadRunner course.

Lastly, I will be developing a Learning Center here at The Springs for the golfing community in the area.  I will not only be offering private IPAD video lessons this season, but will continue our One Hour Clinics along with some Short Game and Beginner Golf Schools. This information will be posted on our website that you can access, then reach me by email, text, or cell to book your appointment or register for a school.
