Community Service Sat. Jan 12, 2013 noon - 2PM
-Marilyn Dauer, Chair 32LD Community Service Committee
Community Service on Sat. Jan 12th from noon-2pm.
We'll be organizing the walk-in freezer at Annie's Community Kitchen--they offer a free community dinner every Wednesday night from 5-6:30pm. Address: Edmonds Lutheran Church 23525 84th Ave. W. Edmonds (about 3 blks from Carin's house.)
Here's what we would do on that Saturday: transport boxes of frozen meats from the outside walk-in freezer to inside the church building. Open each box and sort it out so all like-items are in the same box. (Chicken only in some boxes, fish only in other boxes, etc.) Label and date the boxes. Then move the boxes out of the church back to the walk-in freezer. (There are carts to help move boxes.)
This is a great activity if you have teenagers who need "community service" as it can be a very physical job. If you have back trouble, this won't be a good job for you. Wear a warm coat and wear warm gloves. We're inside the freezer for very little time, but the weather in January can be chilly.
