Greetings!

 

On Wednesday, December 12, the 32nd District Democrats will hold its reorganization meeting.

At the reorganization meeting, the Precinct Committee Officers and the members of the District will adopt the bylaws of the organization and elect new officers. Nominations for the District's officers shall be taken from the floor.

If you are interested in voting in the meeting,* please be prepared to pay your membership dues for 2013. Dues are $25 for an individual and $32 for a family. Membership dues for students and seniors are $6. (*Note, some officers will be elected by the elected PCOs only).

The meeting is at the Shoreline Masonic Center at 7:00 pm. The Masonic Center is at 753 N 185th St at the corner of Linden and N 185th.

Proposed Reorganization Rules

 

  1. Sign-in is required at check-in. 
  2. Eligible voters shall be limited to Democratic PCOs elected during the August 7th, 2012 Primary (including any PCOs who were the only candidate to file in their precinct, and were elected without appearing on a ballot). 
    1. Eligible voters will be issued credentials. 
    2. A majority vote of members present and voting is necessary to approve any vote unless otherwise noted
  3. The meeting shall be called to order by the Temporary Chair. 
    1. The Temporary Chair shall preside until the election of the new Chair.
  4. The Temporary Chair shall review the Proposed Rules with the Body. 
  5. The Body shall vote to approve the meeting Rules.
  6. The Body shall vote to approve the Bylaws as presented. 
  7. Election of officers shall proceed in the following order: 
    1. Chair - (upon election he/she shall continue running meeting) 
    2. 1st Vice Chair to reside in different county than the Chair
    3. 2nd Vice Chair 
    4. State Committeeman 
    5. State Committeewoman 
    6. King County Executive Board Delegate - Male 
    7. King County Executive Board Delegate -Female 
    8. King County Executive Board Delegate -Male Alternate  
    9. King County Executive Board Delegate -Female Alternate  
    10. Snohomish Executive Board Delegate - Male 
    11. Snohomish Executive Board Delegate -Female
    12. Snohomish Executive Board Delegate - Male Alternate 
    13. Snohomish Executive Board Delegate -Female Alternate 
    14. Other elected party representatives if necessary 
  8. Process for nominating and electing each position shall include the following: 
    1. Call for nominations 
    2. Close nominations 
    3. Order of speeches determined by order of nominations.
    4. One minute nomination speech for all candidates 
    5. One minute seconding speech for all candidates. 
    6. Speakers for all races may be PCOs, candidates, or Democratic residents of the Legislative District. 
  9. Ballot Procedures: 
    1. When precinct committee officers vote for organizational officers (e.g., chair, vice chair, secretary, treasurer, state committeepersons) in contested races, they do not have to vote by signed ballot provided that there is a mechanism to ensure the eligibility of those who cast ballots (e.g., a check-off list, sign-in-sheet, ballot receipts). (WSD Charter - 1/20/2010 - Article VII.)
