NPUAP Change in Terminology

The buzz is true!  The National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) has changed the terminology related to pressure ulcers.  Pressure ulcers are now referred to as pressure injuries.  No longer is the term suspected deep tissue injury utilized either!  The new term announced is deep tissue injury without the term "suspected".

While it will take a while for the ICD-10 codes to implement these diagnoses in the diagnosis codes, the literature is starting to change to the new terminology.  webWOC Nursing Education Program is starting to integrate these changes in our curriculum.
