Winter 2016

Greetings!

"I am going to notice the lights of the earth, the sun and the moon and the stars, the lights of our candles as we march, the lights with which spring teases us, the light that is already present"
~ Anne Lamott

As we transition into spring, I am noticing light. The longer days here in the northeast are a welcome harbinger of the season of awakening. I have noticed how the morning light plays on the bare branches of the plum tree outside my window; each day the buds swelling a bit more in anticipation for their explosion of fragrant blossoms. I have watched the warm, long light of afternoon illuminate patches of the garden, coaxing the light green tips of the spring bulbs to barely poke above ground. I am always amazed at the well synchronized dance of nature, if I only remember to pause and notice. Mindful of the changing season, I am grateful for the light.

Wishing you light,
Pam

Upcoming Events in the Boston Area
Crocus March 31
For those of you in the Boston area, a couple of wonderful speakers/teachers will be in the area in March and April. I would love to meet you at either of these events.

"We yearn for connection with others--but our minds get in the way" Mark Nepo, in Lexington MA Thursday March 10 at 7 pm Mark Nepo Lecture This is one of the few times that Mark Nepo has been in the Boston area to speak--take advantage of this small venue to hear Mark share his wisdom.

Sharon Salzberg, will be in Newton MA Monday April 25 at 7 pm. Sharon is a beloved teacher of mindfulness meditation and the  practice of loving-kindness or metta. If you haven't had a chance to hear her speak, you are in for a treat. Sign up through Newton Community Education
Mindfulness as a Leadership Practice
Mindfulness simply means "paying attention to the present moment, on purpose and without judgement" Seems so simple yet it is anything but easy!

As I noted in the last newsletter, mindfulness has found its way into business schools and law schools...so it is not surprising that the practice of mindfulness is now being explored as an important leadership practice. Read more about how to incorporate mindfulness into skills of leadership
